Teaching is a rewarding career with excellent potential for growth & advancement.

I am an energetic and dedicated Chinese Teacher with more than 10 years of experience teaching in China and Ireland. I chose to study the Professional Diploma in Education (Further Education) part-time course in 2019 because I was eager to develop my professionalism and become a teaching council recognised qualified teacher.

The two years of learning journey was very challenging but meaningful and enjoyable. The six modules offered range of insights into the teaching profession, such as teaching and learning theories, curriculum programme design, lifelong learning context and policies. The lecturers were incredibly professional and helpful.

I particularly like the micro-teaching workshops. There was always a good peer learning atmosphere where I got to know my classmates and made many new friends. Even though I was the only Chinese student, I felt inclusive and part of the community during the workshops. I also think my favourite element was the 100 hours of teaching practice. The invaluable reflective self-assessment portfolio boosted creativity, motivation and critical thinking and the development of metacognitive skills. I also benefited from the class observation and learned from experienced teachers in GRETB Further Education Centre Letterfrack branch.

Teaching is a rewarding career with excellent potential for growth and advancement. The two years of my learning journey have equipped me with an in-depth understanding of my further education sector and confidence in my ability. With this training and experience, I am prepared to continue my studies in Education and love to contribute to Chinese teaching in the best way in Ireland.
