Last week we completed our final set of first year online orientation workshops with our new part-time students and we are finally up and running!
It isn’t an easy start for our new lifelong learners as we move to a fully online teaching mode for Semester 1. We missed meeting you in person, but we are proud of the way you have embraced your new online learning platform and are also very happy with how our staff & tutors have adjusted to this new way of working.
We would like to welcome you again and remind you of all the different support services in place at NUI Galway to help you with your online study!
Our Student Launchpad is a handy ‘one-stop shop’ to help you find everything you might need to get started with NUI Galway including registration, semester dates, IT supports etc. We have also updated it this year with Online Learning tips & FAQ’s to assist you with our new mode of delivery.
It also lists support services available to NUI Galway part-time students such as the Academic Writing Centre, Career Development Centre, Counselling, Disability Office and the James Hardiman Library.
We have also created a new “Adult Learning Orientation” course in Blackboard, your online learning platform, where students can browse through our list of frequently asked questions or take a look at our comprehensive “How to Guides” which cover all you need to know about being a part-time student at NUI Galway. The Adult Learning team will post notices regarding events and items of information which may be of interest to you during your studies so you are encouraged to dip in-and-out of this course to keep in touch with news and events.
While we are all adjusting to a ‘new normal’ due to Covid19 we would encourage you to reach out to your course administrator if you are struggling with any aspect of your course. As our administrators are still working remotely, it is best to email them first and they will be happy to call you if you wish to discuss anything.

Best of luck with your studies and stay in touch!
